Praying for Doors and Watching Them Close One by One When You Did Everything Right and It Still Didn't Open You prayed over it. You planned for it. You ...
You prayed over it. You planned for it. You did the work and you waited on the answer, and the answer was no, or worse, silence.
Then the next door. Closed. Then another one you were counting on, gone quiet too.
There is a particular kind of tired that comes from asking for a good thing, believing you'd get it, and watching the path narrow instead of open. It doesn't feel like a test in the moment. It feels unfair.
There's a tidy version of faith where every closed door leads neatly to a better one, and you can see the reason inside a week. That is not the version most women are actually living.
The real version is the one where you cannot see the reason yet. You keep going anyway, not because it makes sense, but because stopping isn't a thing you're willing to do.
Trusting the process when the process seems unfair is not pretending the doors didn't close. It's standing there, hand still on the knob, and choosing to believe the hallway leads somewhere even though it looks like a dead end from where you're standing right now.
Nobody warns you that a "no" you prayed hard for hits differently than one you didn't care about. You put your hope on it. You told yourself it was coming.
When it doesn't, it's easy to start wondering if you read it wrong, or if you're being overlooked, or if you're just not the kind of woman good things happen to. That last one is a lie, but it whispers loud on the hard days.
Here's what's true even when it doesn't feel true. A door closing is not a verdict on your worth. You are worthy on the day everything opens and the day everything stalls, and nothing about a delayed answer changes that.
Part of the story a lot of women don't get to see yet is that the timing you wanted and the timing that was actually good for you were rarely the same timing. The thing you begged for in the spring might have wrecked you if it showed up on schedule.
Think about a woman who was sure her whole life was set on one path, then found herself starting over completely, two kids in tow, none of it going how she pictured it. The doors she was praying for slammed. And the thing she couldn't have imagined, a whole new chapter, a person she never saw coming, showed up on the other side of all that closing.
Not because she sat and waited for it. Because she kept moving while she waited. Life turns around the minute you start turning it around yourself, even before you can see where the turn is headed.
Waiting is not passive. This is the part that saves you, and it has almost nothing to do with the doors.
While the big answer is stuck in the mail, you get to decide what today looks like. You move your body, not to change how you look but because you only get the one body and it carries everything you're carrying. You drink the water.
You do the fifteen minutes that are yours before the day belongs to everyone else.
None of that opens the door you're praying for. What it does is keep you strong enough to walk through whatever door does open, whenever it finally does.
The mistake is thinking you can't feel like yourself again until the situation resolves. You can. Strength doesn't arrive after the good news.
It's the thing that gets you to the good news.
Women were built for this kind of hard. You come back after setbacks in a way that surprises even you, and you rise through seasons that would've flattened the version of you who hadn't been through anything yet. That's not a motivational slogan.
That's just what keeps happening every time you refuse to quit.
You are not standing in that hallway alone. The whole heart of OK Tease Co. is a community of women who know exactly what it is to pray for something, watch it not come, and choose to keep showing up anyway. Seen, supported, still going.
Faith and forward motion are not opposites. You can keep praying over the door and keep building the you who's ready for whatever's behind it, in the same breath.
So keep knocking. Keep believing the reason exists even when you can't see it yet. And on the days the closed doors get loud, be bold anyway.
Stand tall in the hallway. Don't let a season of "no" convince you the light you carry got any dimmer, because it didn't.
The doors will do what they do. Your job is to stay strong enough, soft enough, and stubborn enough to still be standing when the right one finally opens. You've got this, even today.
Especially today.
