You Think You're Barely Holding On, But Look What You Carry The Word "Barely" Is Doing You Dirty You keep telling yourself you're barely holding on. Han...
You keep telling yourself you're barely holding on. Hanging by a thread. One more thing away from the whole thing coming down.
But take an honest look at what's in your arms right now. The grocery run you handled solo. The appointment you remembered.
The bedtime that happened even though you were running on fumes. That is not barely. That is carrying a full load and still walking.
The word "barely" makes it sound like luck, like you squeaked by. You didn't squeak by. You did the thing.
Here is what I want you to actually do, in your head, right now. Add it up. Not to feel sorry for yourself, but to see the size of what you're moving every single day.
The schedule you run without a backup. The budget you stretch. The hard call you made that nobody will ever thank you for.
The fear you felt at midnight that you got up and faced anyway at six. Every one of those is weight, and you've been carrying all of it while convincing yourself you're almost out of strength.
Women can carry far more than they give themselves credit for. You don't find that out in the easy season. You find it out now, in the middle of it, when the load is real and you're still standing under it.
I know that feeling where it all stacks up and some quiet voice says you're not going to make it. That one is loud some nights. It feels true.
But feeling like you won't make it and actually not making it are two different things, and you've proved that over and over. You've already lived through nights you were sure would break you. You're reading this, which means they didn't.
That voice is a feeling. It is not a forecast.
They're watching, you know. Not your technique, not your perfect patience, not whether you said the exactly right thing. They're watching you carry a hard day and keep walking through it.
They see you go through the depths and come out the other side. That sticks with them in a way no speech ever could, because they witnessed it with their own eyes. You leading by example on your worst days is the whole lesson, and you don't have to perform it.
You just have to keep going, which you already are.
That is the full circle. You overcame it, you're better for it, and they saw every bit of it.
I used to think movement was just another item on the pile, one more task I didn't have time for. It's the opposite. Taking twenty minutes to move is where I set the load down for a minute, and I come back able to pick it up again.
Your body is the only one you get. Moving it is a stress reliever before it's ever about how you look or what size you wear. It's about being strong enough to carry what you're already carrying, and the mental part starts lifting almost the second the physical part does.
Some mornings the win is a ten minute walk where you finally hear yourself think. That counts. That's not small, that's the door.
Faith has carried me through seasons I couldn't explain, and I'll be honest, a lot of it hasn't made sense while I was in it. The hard part isn't the tidy version where everything lines up and you can see the reason. It's the version where you can't see it yet and you keep going anyway.
I don't have a neat answer for why the hard season is the shape it is. What I have is the belief that the process is working even when it looks nothing like what I prayed for. You trust it forward, not backward, and the clarity comes later if it comes at all.
Keep going anyway. That's the whole practice.
The reason OK Tease Co. exists is for the woman who is in this exact moment, the one reading this at the bottom of a long day and wondering if she's going to be okay. You are not carrying this to an empty room. There's a community of women who have been where you are and who get it without you having to explain.
When one of us pulls on a tee that says something strong, it's not about the shirt. It's a reminder you can see, on the days the voice in your head forgets, that you are strong and you've got this.
Go back and reread the start of this. "Barely holding on" was never the right description. Look at everything that's standing because you're under it.
That's not someone hanging by a thread. That's someone strong enough to carry a whole life forward through a hard season, which is exactly what you've been doing while telling yourself you couldn't. You already have the proof. You've just been too busy carrying it to notice.
You've got this. Keep going. Life turns around the minute you start turning it around for yourself, and you started a long time ago.
