What If the Thing You Lost Was Clearing Room for Something? The empty space feels like a loss long before it feels like anything else Right now it just ...
Right now it just feels gone. The plan you had, the version of your life you were counting on, the thing you held with both hands. You are not going to feel talked out of that with a nice sentence, and I am not going to try.
Let me say the real part first. When something leaves that you did not choose to let go of, the empty space it leaves does not announce itself as room for anything. It announces itself as missing.
That is honest, and that is where you are.
But I want to put a question next to it, not instead of it. What if the space is not only empty?
Here is the part of faith nobody puts on a pretty graphic. It is not the version where you lose something, pray about it, and three days later the reason shows up wrapped with a bow and everything makes sense.
It is the version where you cannot see the reason yet. Where it looks nothing like what you asked for, and from where you are standing it honestly seems unfair. And you keep going anyway, not because you got proof, but because you decided to.
That is the whole thing with trusting God's process. You do not get to read ahead. You get to keep walking while the chapter is still being written, and that takes more guts than any tidy answer ever would.
I have watched this happen for more women than I can count, and it is almost never a lightning bolt. It is quieter than that. A woman stops waiting for the old thing to come back, and she starts, in small ways, building something in the space where it was.
She takes the walk. She drinks the water. She shows up for one thing she can control instead of staring at the ten she cannot.
And slowly, without a single dramatic moment, the ground under her starts to feel like hers again.
Life turns around for you about the time you start turning it around for yourself. Not because you earned a reward, but because you stopped standing still and the standing still was never going to get you anywhere good.
Think about what actually fits in a cleared-out space. Not the thing you lost, because that is gone, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Something else.
Something you cannot picture yet because you have never had room for it before.
Maybe it is a version of you with time to think again. Maybe it is a strength you did not know you had until there was no one else to carry it. Maybe it is a community of women who get it, who have been where you are and did not stay there.
You cannot schedule that or force it to show up on your timeline. But you can refuse to fill the space back up with the fear that nothing good is coming. Because something usually is, and it rarely looks like what you were bracing for.
It is not glamorous and it does not trend. It is you getting everyone where they need to be when the morning fell apart. It is you handling the thing alone that you were sure would break you, and then noticing afterward that it did not.
Your kids are watching all of it, by the way. They do not see the loss the way you do. They see their mom go through the depths of something hard and come up above it, and that is a thing they will carry into their own hard days without you ever lecturing them about it.
That is the full circle. You overcame it, you are different because of it, and they saw the whole thing happen in a regular kitchen on a regular week.
Some mornings the belief is just not there, and you still have to move. Those are the days a little reminder earns its keep. The whole reason we make the graphics at OK Tease Co. is so that on the days you do not feel strong, you can put one on and feel it on your skin before you feel it in your head.
What a tee actually means is simple. It means becoming new. It means you are worthy of the room you are standing in and the room that just opened up, even when it still feels like a hole.
You are not waiting on the old you to come back and give you permission. She does not have to leave for the new one to start showing up, and the new one is already here, on the days she rises and the days she just keeps going.
I will not hand you a bow on this. The thing you lost might stay lost, and the reason might take longer than feels fair to show itself, and that is the part of the process you do not get to control.
What you get to control is whether you keep moving through the space instead of standing frozen in it. Whether you take care of the one body you get, show up for yourself and the people watching you, and trust a plan you cannot fully read.
You are stronger than this season. You have come back from things before, and you will come back from this, the minute you start turning it around for yourself. Keep going.
You've got this.
