You've done everything you know to do. The applications are out. The prayers are said. The plan is made, remade, and made again. And still the phone doesn't ring, the door doesn't open, the thing you've been waiting on just... sits there. Nothing is moving. And somewhere under the tired, you still believe it's going to turn. That right there, that stubborn little flame that won't go out even when you have zero proof, that's the whole thing. Hold onto it. It's telling you the truth.
This is the season nobody warns you about. Not the crash, not the setback everyone rallies around. The quiet stretch after. Where you're doing the work and the work isn't paying off yet. Where you keep showing up and nothing shows up back. And you start to wonder if you read the whole thing wrong.
You didn't.
Here's what the world gets wrong about a waiting season. It looks like nothing is happening, so people assume nothing is. But there's a difference between a woman who has quit and a woman who is waiting, and you can feel it in your own chest. The one who quit stopped showing up. You're still here. You still got up. You still put one foot in front of the other today even though there's no reward taped to the finish line, because you can't see the finish line at all.
That's not nothing. That's the hardest kind of strength there is. Anybody can keep going when they can see it working. Keeping going when you can't see a single thing changing? That's a whole different animal. Women were built for that. We come back stronger after every setback, and the coming back doesn't always look like fireworks. Sometimes it looks like a Tuesday where you made breakfast and answered the emails and didn't disappear on yourself, with no sign yet that any of it mattered.
It mattered.
I'll be honest with you about faith, because this is exactly where it gets hard. The easy version of faith is the one where everything lines up and you can look back and go, oh, that's why. This is not that version. This is the version where you can't see the reason yet. Where it feels unfair, honestly. Where you're doing your part and heaven seems quiet and you don't get the memo explaining the delay.
God's process doesn't come with a timeline stapled to it. That's the part that stings. You trust it anyway, not because you've got proof, but because you've got history. Look back at the last hard season you swore you wouldn't survive. You're standing here reading this. You made it out of the last one without knowing how. This one's no different, even though it feels like it is.
Trusting the process when it seems unfair isn't about pretending it's fair. It's about deciding you'll keep walking through the fog while you wait for it to lift. You don't have to understand the plan to stay in it.
When everything external is frozen, the one thing still in your control is you. Your body. The only one you get. And I'm not talking about how it looks. I'm talking about what movement does for the head during a season like this, because the waiting will make you feel powerless, and moving your body is the fastest way I know to remind yourself you're not.
A walk. Twenty minutes of something that makes you breathe hard. It's a stress reliever first and everything else second. When the outside won't budge, you go work on the inside, and the wild thing is the inside starts moving even when the outside doesn't. Taking care of yourself physically starts helping your head almost right away. That's the door in. You can't make the phone ring, but you can put your shoes on and go, and by the time you get back you feel two percent more like a woman who's going to make it. Two percent, on a day like this, is a mountain.
If the heaviness ever gets bigger than a hard season, if it stops feeling like waiting and starts feeling like drowning, please reach out to someone qualified to help you carry it. There's no strength lost in that. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is there anytime you need a real person. Asking for help is a strong woman's move, not a weak one.
Here's the part that gives the waiting a purpose, even before you can see the reward. If you've got little eyes in your house, they're watching this whole stretch. Not the polished part. This part. The part where nothing's coming and you keep going anyway.
They are learning what a woman does when life stalls out on her. They're watching you not fall apart when there's every reason to. They're clocking that you can be tired and scared and unsure and STILL get up, still believe, still show up for yourself and for them. You are handing them a script for their own waiting seasons, the ones they'll hit someday when I'm not around and neither are you. That's the full circle. You go through the depths, you come out above it, and they saw all of it.
Some days the whole win is that everybody ate and you didn't give up on yourself. Write that down as a victory, because it is one.
Nothing is moving on the outside. I know. But you are still moving on the inside, and that's the part that actually decides how this goes. Life will turn around for you the minute you start turning it around for yourself, and turning it around doesn't mean fixing the thing you're waiting on. It means refusing to let the wait make you smaller.
Stand tall in the waiting room. Keep believing when there's no evidence yet. The evidence is coming. You've done this before, and you're stronger than this season is giving you credit for.
Keep going. You've got this.
