The First Cold Snap Hit and You Found the Coats Nobody Could Find That morning the temperature dropped and you had it handled The weather turned overnig...
The weather turned overnight the way it does every fall, and suddenly everyone needed a coat they hadn't thought about since spring. You knew where they were. The gloves too, the ones that always vanish, and you knew which bin held the hats.
That is not a small thing. That is a woman running a whole household in her head, holding the map of where everything lives, while also getting people fed and out the door on time.
Nobody hands out awards for it. There's no moment where someone stops and says, wow, she remembered the coats. But you remembered.
And everyone stayed warm because of it.
You are the keeper of a hundred small things at once. Who outgrew their boots, which backpack has the broken zipper, what time the thing is on Thursday. You carry a mental inventory that nobody else in the house even realizes exists.
When life hands you more to hold, that inventory does not shrink. It grows. And you keep tracking all of it, often alone, often without a single person noticing you are doing it.
Here's what I want you to actually see about that. The fact that you knew where the coats were is proof of how much you are managing well, on a morning that could have fallen apart.
We tend to measure ourselves by the big dramatic wins. The promotion, the breakthrough, the day everything finally clicks. But most of real strength looks like a cold snap handled before the kids even noticed it got cold.
Women do not get to step back. We keep going as moms, as daughters, as sisters, as the person everyone counts on. The breaks other people seem to get don't usually show up for us, so we build the muscle of handling it anyway.
That muscle is quiet. It shows up in the bin you knew to check, the jacket you had ready, the morning that went smoothly because you'd already thought three steps ahead.
There's a kid in your house who watched you pull those coats out like it was nothing. They don't know yet how much went into it. But they're filing it away.
They're learning that when the weather turns, someone in their life handles it. That when things get harder, you don't fold, you figure it out. Years from now that lands as something they'll do for their own families without even knowing where they got it.
That's the full circle of it. They see you go through the depths of life and come out above it, and that paves the way for them. You are teaching, every ordinary morning, without saying a word.
The truth about rising above what life throws at you is that it almost never looks like rising. It looks like a regular Tuesday where you did the next right thing and then the next one after that.
God knew what He was doing when He made the woman. She's a force, and the force doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's just the steady, unglamorous work of being the one who shows up and keeps the whole thing moving forward.
Some days the win is everyone ate, everyone stayed warm, and you didn't disappear on yourself in the middle of it. That counts. That's a real win, even when nobody else names it one.
If you've been waiting to feel strong before you call yourself strong, I'd flip that. You already did the strong thing this morning. The feeling catches up to the action, not the other way around.
This is the whole heart of what we're building over at OK Tease Co. A community of women who are in it right now, who need somebody to say out loud that the invisible work is real work, and the woman doing it is tougher than she gives herself credit for.
Stand tall no matter what room you're in. Even the mudroom at 7am with four coats in your arms and a kid asking where his gloves are. Especially there.
You might not feel like yourself lately. That's okay, and it's more common than anyone admits out loud. But watch what you actually do on the hard days, not what your head tells you about yourself.
The woman who knew where the coats were is not lost. She's right there, handling things, holding the map, keeping everyone warm. You might just be getting to know this newer, stronger version of her.
Trust that process even when you can't see where it's going yet. You're rising, one ordinary handled morning at a time, and that is exactly how it's supposed to look.
