Faith Isn't Believing It Makes Sense, It's Walking Before It Does The Part Where Nothing Adds Up Yet You prayed about it. You did the right thing, the h...
You prayed about it. You did the right thing, the hard thing, the thing you didn't want to do. And the result still isn't showing up.
That's the exact spot where most of us start bargaining with faith, like it's supposed to hand us an explanation before we take another step. It doesn't work that way. Faith rarely gives you the reason first.
What it asks is that you keep walking while the reason stays out of sight.
We picture faith as this big, glowing certainty. A moment where the clouds part and suddenly it all clicks. Most days it looks nothing like that.
Most days it looks like getting up when you'd rather not. Making the lunches, showing up to the thing, answering to your own name and everyone else's, and quietly trusting that the effort counts even when you can't see where it's going yet. That's faith in work clothes.
Nobody hands you a receipt for that kind of belief. You just keep moving and let the proof catch up to you later.
Here's the honest part nobody likes to say out loud. Sometimes the timing feels wrong, and sometimes the whole thing feels flat unfair.
You watch the answer show up for someone who barely asked while yours sits there unopened. That stings, and pretending it doesn't is its own kind of exhausting. Faith isn't pretending the unfairness away.
Faith is deciding that you don't have full information yet. You can't see the reason. Maybe you won't for a long while.
And you keep going anyway, because the reason not existing and you not being able to see it are two very different things.
If you wait to feel sure before you move, you'll be waiting a long time. Certainty is almost never the thing that arrives first.
Momentum arrives first. You take the small next step, and then another, and somewhere in that motion your head starts to settle. It's the same way movement works on your body.
You don't wait to feel strong before you move; the strength shows up because you moved. Faith runs on that identical engine.
The walking is what generates the clarity. Not the other way around.
There's a version of this story that gets told all the time in the OK Tease Co. community, and it goes something like this. A woman in a hard season, sure the grass is only greener for other people, decides to do one small thing for herself anyway.
She's not doing it because she believes life will turn around. She's doing it because sitting still hurts worse. And then, slowly, life does start to turn, right around the time she started turning it around for herself.
That's the whole quiet mechanism of it. The change doesn't come down like a lightning bolt to convince you. It comes because you moved first, on a day you had no proof it would matter.
Women were made resilient. You come back after the thing that was supposed to level you, and you come back with more than you had before. That's not a motivational slogan, it's just what keeps happening when you watch women who've been through it.
You are stronger than you currently believe, and you won't find out how strong until you're already in it, walking without the map. That capacity was put in you on purpose. God knew exactly what He was doing when He made the woman a force.
So the fear that you won't make it? Real, understandable, and also not the final word on you.
The reason you can't see yet is still a reason. Say that to yourself on the days the whole thing feels pointless.
Pick the one small thing you can actually do today. Drink the water, take the walk, answer the text, keep the promise you made to yourself. None of it will feel like proof of anything while you're doing it, and that's fine.
Proof is a thing you assemble in reverse, looking back at all the ordinary steps you didn't feel like taking.
You don't have to understand the whole plan to take the next honest step inside it.
You will rise above what got thrown at you. Not because life owes you a fair outcome, but because you are the kind of woman who keeps moving before the sense of it arrives.
That's the faith worth having. The version where you can't explain it, can't prove it, can't point to the payoff yet, and you walk on anyway because walking is what you do. The understanding comes later, and when it does, you'll realize you built the whole thing one unremarkable step at a time.
Keep going. You've got this, even on the day it makes no sense at all.
