Some mornings, you wake up and the words just aren't there.
Maybe you're walking into a room where you'll see someone who hurt you. Maybe you're facing a medical appointment that terrifies you. Maybe you're sitting across from someone who needs to hear you advocate for yourself, and your throat closes up before you even open your mouth.
This isn't weakness. This is what happens when we've spent years being talked over, dismissed, or trained to keep the peace at our own expense. The voice gets tired. Sometimes it takes a break.
Here's what I've learned: when my voice fails me, I let what I'm wearing carry the message instead.
"I am enough."
Three words. Simple. Almost too simple, right?
But wear them across your chest on a day when everything in you screams that you're too much trouble, too complicated, too broken—and something shifts. You don't have to convince anyone with an argument. You don't have to justify your existence in a meeting or explain why you deserve basic respect.
The statement just... exists. On you. As you.
This one works especially well for doctor's appointments where you've historically been dismissed, family gatherings where you're always the "difficult" one, or any situation where you've been made to feel like an inconvenience for having needs.
You might not be able to say "my pain is real" or "I deserve to be heard." But you can walk in wearing your worth like armor.
"Not today."
Two words that communicate volumes. No explanation required. No lengthy speech about your trauma history or why you've decided to protect your energy.
When words fail, boundaries often fail with them. We freeze. We people-please. We say yes when every cell in our body screams no.
Wearing "not today" (or something with similar energy) does something interesting—it reminds YOU before it reminds anyone else. You catch your reflection in a window. You feel the fabric against your skin. The message loops back to you first.
This works for the coworker who always dumps their drama on you. For the family member who thinks your life is up for debate. For the inner critic that wants to replay every mistake you've made since 2007.
Not today.

I know. You've seen it on a thousand Pinterest boards. But there's a reason it resonates—and wearing it hits different than scrolling past it.
